Is Little Molly a good first pedal bike after a balance bike?
Yes, if your child fits the bike and is ready to learn pedaling. A child who can already balance may be ready to practice without training wheels; one who is still learning to pedal may benefit from them. Begin on flat, traffic-free ground and practice stopping before longer rides.
What size Little Molly bike should I buy?
Little Molly comes with 12-, 14-, 16-, 18-, and 20-inch wheels. Measure your child’s height and inseam, then check the chart for the size you’re considering. They should be able to stand over the bike, reach the handlebars, and use the brakes comfortably. If none of these sizes fits well, Glerc’s wider range of kids bikes offers other options.
Does every Little Molly size include training wheels and a basket?
Every size includes a wicker basket, but training wheels are included only with the 12-, 14-, 16-, and 18-inch bikes—not the 20-inch bike. The included training wheels are removable. A kickstand comes with the 16-, 18-, and 20-inch sizes.
Does Little Molly have gears?
No. Little Molly is one of Glerc’s single-speed bikes, so there’s no shifter for a new rider to learn. That keeps the focus on pedaling, steering, and braking during neighborhood rides.
Does Little Molly have a hand brake or a coaster brake?
It has both a hand-operated V-brake and a coaster brake, which stops the bike when the rider pedals backward. Let your child practice both ways of stopping on flat ground, and check that they can comfortably squeeze the hand-brake lever.
What is the difference between Little Molly and Little Miss?
Little Molly includes fenders, while Little Miss does not; both have a vintage look and a front basket. Their 20-inch brake setups also differ: Little Molly lists a hand brake and coaster brake, while Little Miss lists dual hand brakes. They are two distinct options within Glerc’s classic bikes.
Can my child ride Little Molly on dirt trails?
Little Molly is best for paved neighborhood routes and smooth park paths, not rocky or technical trails. If off-road riding is a regular part of your family’s plans, a kids mountain bike is a better match.
