FAQS

What age and height is a 16 inch bike for?

A 16 inch kids bike is built for children aged 4 to 8 years, with a recommended height range of 38"โ€“53" (97โ€“135 cm) and an inseam of 19"โ€“24" (48โ€“61 cm). This is the most versatile size in our collection โ€” it bridges the gap between a toddler's first pedal bike and a full-sized 20" model, comfortably supporting 3 to 4 years of active use as your child grows.

How do I know if a 16" bike is the right size for my child?

Measure your child's inseam (the distance from the floor to their crotch while standing in shoes) rather than relying only on height. If the result falls between 19" and 24", a Glerc 16" bike will fit comfortably. When seated on the saddle at its lowest setting, your child should be able to plant the balls of both feet flat on the ground โ€” this is the safest starting position for a 4-to-5-year-old.

What's the difference between a 16" bike and an 18" bike?

The two sizes overlap, but they serve different stages of development. A 16" bike is geared toward learning fundamentals โ€” balance, steering, braking, and confidence โ€” with a lower step-over and lighter frame. An 18" bike is geared toward children who already ride independently and need a slightly longer, faster ride for neighborhood loops or school routes.

How much assembly is required, and how long does it take?

Every Glerc 16" bike arrives 85% pre-assembled. The remaining steps โ€” installing the front wheel, handlebar, pedals, saddle, and training wheels โ€” take most parents 20 to 30 minutes with the included tools. No prior bike-mechanic experience is required. If you'd prefer visual guidance, step-by-step videos are available on our YouTube channel and on the Assembly Guide page.
