FAQS
What age and height is an 18 inch bike for?
An 18 inch kids bike is built for children aged 5 to 10 years, with a recommended height range of 41"–57" (104–145 cm) and an inseam of 21"–26" (53–66 cm). This size sits in the sweet spot between the learning-focused 16" and the more grown-up 20", making it the ideal choice for kids who already ride confidently and are ready for slightly longer rides, neighborhood loops, and casual school commutes.
Can a child use an 18 inch bike for going to school?
Yes — 18" is one of the most popular sizes for short to medium school commutes (under 1.5 miles). The frame geometry supports a more upright, alert riding posture (better for traffic awareness than a racing-style lean).
Does an 18" bike still come with training wheels?
Most Glerc 18" models do not include training wheels by default, because this size is designed for children who can already ride independently. If your child is on the younger end of the age range (5–6) and not yet fully confident on two wheels, training wheels can be purchased separately from our Training Wheels accessory page and are compatible with most 18" models.
How much assembly is required, and how long does it take?
Every Glerc 18" bike arrives 85% pre-assembled. The remaining steps — front wheel, handlebar, pedals, saddle, and reflectors — take most parents 20 to 30 minutes with the included tools, no prior experience required. Step-by-step assembly videos are available on our YouTube channel and on our Assembly Guide page.
